Unique Types of Online Gamers

Nearly Everyone knows at least three gamer, your poor friend, your recluse neighbour, the women along the lane in the big cottage, your mother, your granny. But do you know what type of gamer they are?

This article will start to show the many types of player so next time you see them, you can correctly guess the sort of gamer they are.

Casual Gamer

A casual player is a player whose basic interest in gaming is fairly limited, they tend to lean towards simple types of play and don’t spend months at a time on specific game. Casual gamers are predominately females and enjoy interactive games like those where they may progress a character through a virtual world, or where you directly control the character via motion sensors.

Hardcore Gamers

Hardcore gamers spend many hours perfecting their style of play on every game, they tend to play titles that require lots more player involvement and take alot longer to clock in-game goals such as achievements and quests. Many hardcore players have a competitive mindset when it comes to playing against friends, each attempting to better their opponents and gain positions in internet leagues and tournaments.

Pro Gamers

Pro. gamers play computer games for money, some even play professionally for a wage, earning vast sums of cash for winning tournaments. Professional players are the best of the hardcore gamers, usually focussing on a certain game or franchise of games. Some professional gamers can earn over 0,000 a season from tournaments and endorsement by hardware and gaming companies. Pro gaming is huge business is South Korea and Japan where tournaments are broadcast to hundreds of thousands of people.

Newbie / Noob

Newb is a derogatory word for somebody newish to playing video games, a certain game or someone who is a much worse or terrible player. It is often used as an bullying word in game “look at that newb, he doesn’t know what he is doing!”

Retro Gamer

Retro gaming is coming back in a huge way. People are remembering the old school and addictive title they played as a young child/teenager and want to re-enjoy some of those moments. Many vintage console emulators are available online these days so the retro gamer can download their favourite vintage games and enjoy on their new modern pc systems. Along with emulator software lots of people are actually digging out their old consoles from the attic and getting right back to how games used to be played.
