1. Don’t pick the same three numbers. Although the odds of any particular number sequence being drawn is 1 in 1000, some number sequences rarely show up. One type of sequence that isn’t drawn very often are sequences where all three numbers are the same (ie. 000, 222, 777, etc). Statistically it should have the same odds of showing up as any other 3 digit sequence, but historically it doesn’t show up too often.
2. Look at historical data. Just about every state that runs on Pick 3 lotto has a website that provided the winning number combinations over the past few years. By reviewing these past winners, you can see certain patterns. You’ll notice that some numbers get drawn more often than others. And vice versa, you’ll also see which numbers have had a lower rate of being drawn. But you can take it a step further. If you do proper analysis, you will also see that certain number pairs tend to get drawn together (ie. 237, 234, 230, etc). Luckily for lotto players, these state-run websites also provided an abundance of these types of analyses. They have already evaluated the historical data and provided players with lists of “hot numbers” (individual numbers that are drawn most), “cold numbers” (individual numbers that are drawn least), “cold pairs”, “hot pairs”, and a number of other lists to help you choose better number sequences.
If you want to know how to win the lottery, you need to understand that there are things you can do to increase your odds of predicting the correct number sequences. By not playing the same three numbers (ie. 555) and using the historical information of past winning numbers provided by the state, you will give yourself a slight edge in winning the Pick 3 lottery.
